Bilateral meeting with Donald Trump, interaction with business leaders: What's on PM Modi's two-day US visit agenda

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Washington DC early Thursday commencing his two-day visit to the United States of America. He is set to hold bilateral talks with US President Donald Trump amid tariff crackdown by the administration.
“Landed in Washington DC a short while ago. Looking forward to meeting @POTUS Donald Trump and building upon the India-USA Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. Our nations will keep working closely for the benefit of our people and for a better future for our planet,” he said in a post on X.

He met US director of national intelligence Tulsi Gabbard where the two discussed several aspects of India-US friendship.
“Met USA’s Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard in Washington DC. Congratulated her on her confirmation. Discussed various aspects of the India-USA friendship, of which she’s always been a strong votary,” PM Modi said, sharing pictures of the meeting.

“He also interacted with the Indian diaspora. A warm reception in the winter chill! Despite the cold weather, the Indian diaspora in Washington DC has welcomed me with a very special welcome. My gratitude to them,” he said.

February 13: Bilateral meetings
PM Modi is set to hold bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump on February 13.
“Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will pay an official working visit to the United States on 12th and 13th of February,” ministry of external affairs said ahead of his visit.
“Insofar as the program elements are concerned, the Prime Minister will hold a bilateral meeting with President Trump in both the restricted and delegation level formats. Senior U.S. administration figures are expected to call on Prime Minister during the visit,” MEA added.

Business meetings

PM Modi is also expected to attend certain business meetings, according to an MEA statement.
“And the Prime Minister will also have the opportunity to interact with business leaders and with members of the Indian community,” it said.
